Oil Cleansing Method (OCM) Information Center OCM and Dry Skin

OCM and Dry Skin - Tips

- Dry skin is usually perfectly suited for OCM. Most dry skin types are amazed at the softening, moisture retaining, and wrinkle softening effects OCM has on their skin.
- You should thoroughly and gently massage the oils into your skin. This will help to soften and keep your skin moisturized.
- Make sure the water or steam temperature you use is warm enough to help dissolve dirt and oil but not too hot.
- It is important for dry skin types to make sure oil residue is removed from their skin. The reason is that while massaging your skin, you have just removed dirt, oil, and dead skin cells from your skin and pores. You want to make sure all that grime is not left on your skin. If not removed, the oil residue can cause clogged pores and blemishes that you would not have otherwise.
- Select an oil(s) blend that contains oils that have been found to be moisturizing and emollient such as extra virgin olive oil, avocado, sunflower, squalane, emu oil, extra virgin coconut, shea oil, sweet almond, rosehip seed, safflower, and other heavy/medium oils.
- It is good to select a blend of oils that contain a mix of heavy, medium and/or light oils. Depending on how dry your skin is the blend should contain a higher or lower percentage of heavy textured oils.
- Start trying OCM 1-2 times (not on consecutive days) the first week and monitor your skins response closely. If problems do not occur, you can use OCM as frequently as you like.
