Sensitive skin can be categorized into two groups:

1 -
Hypersensitive
Your skin reacts easily to fragrance, colorants, parabens and environmental aggression.
2 -
Sensitive
Your skin reacts to select cosmetic ingredients and has a low tolerance to environmental aggression.
1. Hypersensitive Skin
Hypersensitive skin is characterized by the following symptoms and skin conditions.
Signs and symptoms:
- Skin allergy to fragrance, colorants, and parabens
- Fair complexion
- Skin may suffer frequently from burning, stinging and itching
- Reacts easily to environmental aggression
Skin conditions often associated with hypersensitive skin:
- Seborrheic dermatitis
- Rosacea
- Telangatatia
- Eczema
- Naturally occurring hypersensitivity
- Skin stressed by dermatological procedure
Overview Information:

Hypersensitive skin requires special care to help minimize its symptoms. It requires treatments formulated with a minimum of ingredients that have been clinically tested for tolerance on skin that is easily irritated by soap, fragrance, colorants and preservatives. Treatments that help hypersensitive skin strengthen its epidermal skin barrier layer and deliver calming benefits are best for this skin type.
2. Sensitive Skin
Sensitive skin is characterized by the following symptoms.
Signs and symptoms:
- Skin may suffer occasionally from burning, stinging and itching
- Low tolerance to soap detergents and select cosmetic ingredients
Skin conditions often associated with sensitive skin:
- Dehydrated skin
- Skin aging
- Oily, blemish-prone skin
- Dry to very dry skin
Overview Information:

Sensitive skin has a low tolerance to external factors including exposure to sun, cold, heat, and pollution, as well as to internal factors such as stress, food, and alcohol. Often times, sensitive skin reacts to particular cosmetic ingredients, and experience occasional burning, stinging and itching, or it may become tight, uncomfortable, red, flaky, and dry.

It is estimated that approximately 50% of the population suffers from sensitive skin. However, having sensitive skin does not preclude people from having other skincare concerns such as acne, aging, dryness or dehydration.
